Nueve personas han muerto y dos ni\u00f1os se encuentran en estado cr\u00edtico al desplomarse un telef\u00e9rico en las inmediaciones de la localidad italiana de Stresa, en el norte del pa\u00eds y cerca de la frontera con Suiza, seg\u00fan han confirmado fuentes de los servicios de Emergencias a los medios italianos. El telef\u00e9rico cubr\u00eda el recorrido desde el lago Maggiore hasta la monta\u00f1a de Mottarone cuando, por causas todav\u00eda bajo investigaci\u00f3n, el cable que lo sustentaba se parti\u00f3 a 300 metros de la estaci\u00f3n de llegada, en la parte m\u00e1s alta del recorrido, donde alcanza los 1.400 metros de altura sobre el nivel del mar. Seg\u00fan las fuentes de Il Messaggero, hab\u00eda 11 personas a bordo del telef\u00e9rico y los dos ni\u00f1os han sido trasladados a un centro de Tur\u00edn.Seg\u00fan el diario La Repubblica, los dos ni\u00f1os heridos graves han sido trasladados al hospital Regina Margherita de Tur\u00edn. El accidente, dice el peri\u00f3dico italiano, se produjo sobre la una del mediod\u00eda. Cuando la cabina llegaba a la parte final del recorrido, esta se precipit\u00f3 al suelo, quiz\u00e1 por un fallo en el cable que la sustentaba.
