Facebook a battu le record de la plus grosse amende au civil jamais inflig\u00e9e par la Federal Trade Commission.<\/p>\n

La sanction est tomb\u00e9e ce mercredi. Le montant s\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 5 milliards de dollars<\/strong>*.<\/p>\n

La prononciation du jugement marque la fin de l\u2019enqu\u00eate ouverte en mars 2018 dans la lign\u00e9e de l\u2019affaire Cambridge Analytica.<\/p>\n

La FTC aurait retenu plusieurs griefs relatifs \u00e0 la vie priv\u00e9e des utilisateurs de Facebook.<\/p>\n

Le groupe am\u00e9ricain serait notamment accus\u00e9 d\u2019avoir tromp\u00e9 les internautes quant \u00e0 l\u2019exploitation des num\u00e9ros de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone fournis dans le cadre de la proc\u00e9dure d\u2019authentification forte.<\/p>\n

Cette proc\u00e9dure renforce la protection des comptes en ajoutant au mot de passe un code temporaire. L\u2019utilisateur peut le recevoir, entre autres, par SMS.<\/p>\n

Un peu plus de comptes \u00e0 rendre<\/h2>\n

Une \u00e9tude acad\u00e9mique avait d\u00e9montr\u00e9 qu\u2019au bout de quelques semaines, les num\u00e9ros de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone fournis uniquement pour assurer le fonctionnement du dispositif devenaient accessibles aux annonceurs.
Interrog\u00e9 \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard, Facebook avait r\u00e9torqu\u00e9 qu\u2019il existait d\u2019autres m\u00e9thodes d\u2019authentification forte. Fournir un num\u00e9ro de t\u00e9l\u00e9phone \u00e9tait effectivement devenu facultatif\u2026 mais depuis seulement quelques mois.<\/p>\n

La FTC reproche aussi \u00e0 Facebook d\u2019avoir insuffisamment inform\u00e9 les utilisateurs sur la possibilit\u00e9 de d\u00e9sactiver l\u2019outil de reconnaissance faciale qui recommande d\u2019identifier des personnes sur les photos.
Plusieurs associations de consommateurs avaient fait remonter le probl\u00e8me.<\/p>\n

Facebook n\u2019aura pas \u00e0 plaider coupable, mais devra se soumettre \u00e0 une surveillance. Une commission sera cr\u00e9\u00e9e en interne pour contr\u00f4ler l\u2019application des bonnes pratiques en mati\u00e8re de gestion des donn\u00e9es personnelles.<\/p>\n
