Blockdata ne tranche pas la question. Mais l\u2019entreprise n\u00e9erlandaise, \u00e0 l\u2019origine d\u2019une base de donn\u00e9es sur l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me blockchain, fournit des \u00e9clairages dans un rapport sur les stablecoins<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Libra est pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment cens\u00e9 fonctionner comme un stablecoin<\/em>. C\u2019est-\u00e0-dire une monnaie adoss\u00e9e \u00e0 une ou plusieurs autres unit\u00e9s de valeur destin\u00e9es notamment \u00e0 garantir sa stabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le rapport de Blockdata (document PDF, 31 pages) met en lumi\u00e8re les complications qui peuvent se poser pour ce type de projets.<\/p>\n

Moins de trois sur dix annonc\u00e9s sont actuellement op\u00e9rationnels. En l\u2019occurrence, 66 sur 226 rep\u00e9r\u00e9s. Plus du double (134) sont en d\u00e9veloppement. Le reste (26) a ferm\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Les stablecoins<\/em> aujourd\u2019hui \u00ab actifs \u00bb sont pour moiti\u00e9 bas\u00e9s sur la blockchain Ethereum \u2013 ce qui facilite leur int\u00e9gration sur les plates-formes d\u2019\u00e9change. Suivent, au rang des plates-formes les plus utilis\u00e9es, BitShares (8 projets) et Stellar (6 projets).<\/p>\n

Ce qui brille n\u2019est pas d\u2019or<\/h2>\n

Les stablecoins<\/em> sont pour l\u2019essentiel adoss\u00e9s \u00e0 :<\/p>\n

Blockdata recense 75 projets bas\u00e9s exclusivement sur une ou plusieurs monnaies fiduciaires. Environ la moiti\u00e9 sont actifs (36) ; un seul a ferm\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le taux de \u00ab survie \u00bb est nettement moins \u00e9lev\u00e9 pour les stablecoins<\/em> index\u00e9s sur des mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res. Sur 65 list\u00e9s, 12 sont actifs et 17 en ferm\u00e9 (dont 16 adoss\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019or).<\/p>\n

Parmi les 40 projets d\u00e9pendant de cryptomonnaies, 15 sont actifs et 2 ont ferm\u00e9. Aucun n\u2019a encore pass\u00e9 le cap du d\u00e9veloppement parmi les quatre exploitant des algorithmes.<\/p>\n

25 projets aujourd\u2019hui \u00ab actifs \u00bb ont b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 d\u2019un financement. Les deux tiers ont recouru au moins en partie au capital-investissement.<\/p>\n

Les \u00c9tats veillent<\/h2>\n

Au-del\u00e0 des contraintes techniques, les \u00e9metteurs de stablecoins<\/em> font face \u00e0 une incertitude juridique.<\/p>\n

Le cas de BASIS l\u2019illustre. Lanc\u00e9 en ao\u00fbt 2017, le projet fonctionnait avec un collat\u00e9ral g\u00e9r\u00e9 par une \u00ab banque centrale algorithmique \u00bb.<\/p>\n

En plus des jetons* repr\u00e9sentatifs de la monnaie en elle-m\u00eame circulaient des jetons r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement mis aux ench\u00e8res. Objectif : encourager les \u00e9changes en r\u00e9ponses aux fluctuations de la demande.<\/p>\n

La SEC (Securities and Exchange Commission, gendarme des march\u00e9s financiers aux \u00c9tats-Unis) a estim\u00e9 que cette derni\u00e8re cat\u00e9gorie de jetons relevait de titres financiers. Lesquels d\u00e9stabiliseraient \u00e0 terme le mod\u00e8le BASIS, pens\u00e9 comme un stablecoin<\/em> ind\u00e9pendant d\u00e9centralis\u00e9.<\/p>\n
