Chase network experiences glitch, affecting some customers nationwide

Chase Bank experienced a network glitch nationwide that inconvenienced some customers throughout much of the day, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Only a fraction of the bank’s customers was affected, with ATMs and the Chase app continuing to function. Still, the problems weren’t fully resolved until 3:30 p.m. Eastern.

“Earlier today, we had some issues processing special transactions such as high-dollar cashier’s checks,” spokesman Tom Kelly said in an email. “But we processed other transactions and have posted them. The ATM, online and mobile systems weren’t affected.”

The majority of customers interacting with a teller were also not impacted because their transactions were processed instantly, and then posted later in the day, he said.
