USA TODAY Sports’ Bob Nightengale reflects on the Dodgers finishing off the Rays to win the World Series for the first time since 1988.Taco Bell is handing out free tacos Wednesday thanks to Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts’ stolen base in Game 1 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.For the ninth year in a row, the fast-food chain is giving away free Doritos Locos tacos with its “Steal a Base, Steal a Taco” World Series promotion.The giveaway is scheduled for all day while supplies last at participating restaurants nationwide.  No purchase is necessary to get the free seasoned beef taco but there’s a limit of one per person or registered user.Betts also was Taco Bell’s Taco Hero in the 2018 World Series when he stole a base for the Boston Red Sox. For a limited time, new members get a free Doritos Locos Tacos for signing up at www.tacobell.com/rewards or on the app.Get free Wendy’s chicken sandwichesThrough Nov. 8, Wendy’s is giving away its new Classic Chicken Sandwich for free with any purchase and an offer in its app. The sandwich usually costs $4.99. Wendy’s said in a news release that the new sandwich has a “premium all-white meat chicken breast that is juicy and crispy, layered with mayo, a slice of tomato, lettuce, and pickles, all placed between a warm, premium toasted bun.”The freebie is available at participating restaurants and Wendy’s says the offer will be refreshed each week, meaning consumers can grab two free sandwiches before the deal ends.In July, the chain launched the Wendy’s Rewards loyalty program where members can cash in points earned on purchases for free food including free nuggets, a Frosty, a burger, salads and other items.Follow USA TODAY reporter Kelly Tyko on Twitter: @KellyTyko
